Colorful and eye-catching scarab jewels such as this pair of earrings are terrific examples of the Egyptian revival aesthetic that has been wildly popular since the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. Scarabs are symbols of transformation, protection, renewal and rebirth. They represent eternal life and the natural cycles of life: a poignant and important symbol imbued with the mystical symbolism of Egyptian-style decorative arts! 

A pair of striking scarabs are carved from carnelian (with detailed carving on both the front and reverse sides) and set in 14 karat gold bezels. Earrings secure with 14k gold friction backs.
