A beautiful and timeless vintage amethyst and diamond ring. The central amethyst is oval cut and has a brightly toned, nearly radiant color, which almost seems to light up from within. It is a softer, less saturated purplish hue that mixes well with everything. The gem is held in a pronged basket setting, allowing maximum light to flow through and light it up. At either shoulder, a golden crescent moon flanks the amethyst. Each moon features three glittering round brilliant diamonds. Amethyst is a variety of quartz found all over the world. In the 19th century, however, it was as rare as diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald. After this time, large deposits were discovered in Brazil, allowing the modern market a wider variety of this beautiful gem for jewelry production.

Amethyst measures 10mm tall and 8mm wide and weighs 3.50 carats (calculated by measurement.) Diamond total weight is .12 carats. Setting sits 6.23mm off the finger. At back of ring, narrowest part of ring shank measures 1.95mm.
