Turquoise and Gold Brooch

A sweet golden brooch fashioned in 14k gold, with an oval shaped turquoise cabochon bezel set at the center. This turquoise is striking in its coloration, which is a beautiful balance of bright turquoise blue with sandstone matrix (a name for the host rock material in which turquoise grows.) Fastens at back with a tube hinge and "c" catch (indicating from design that it was produced during the Victorian era, between 1850 and 1890.)
