A vibrant pair of pearl earrings, fashioned from 14 karat gold. Each earring consists of a round, slightly button-shaped pearl affixed to a white gold post, below which balances a bezel set, round brilliant cut peridot gem and a second pearl, this one drop-shaped. These pearls are genuine round cultured pearls, well-matched, with good luster and slightly pink overtones. Earrings are complete with a pair of 14k gold friction backs. Prior to the advent of the pearl culturing industry in the early 20th century, pearls were the rarest and most highly valued gem on earth - hundreds of years ago, they were considered more precious than diamonds! These are a lovely staple jewel for any collection.
