Opal and Turquoise Gold Halo Ring

I am perpetually on the hunt for turquoise and gold jewels - the combination is so lovely and pleasing and rather difficult to find. This ring is sweetened by the central element - a gorgeous white opal cabochon with play of color in pinks, yellows, greens and blues which plays delightfully with the bright blue green of its turquoise halo. Fashioned from 10 karat yellow gold, this ring is a lovely size and of a comfortable, low-profile design.

Opal is a fascinating gem: it grows in a different manner than most other crystalline gems, developing over millions of years from the fusion of silica spheres in water-rich environments below the surface of the earth. Opals are actually the oldest gemstone on earth; most are more than 60 million years old! While fascinating to look at and wear and treasured around the world for their dynamic patterns and play of color, opals should be cared for lovingly as they are softer than other gemstones.
