A lovely vintage pair of green jade hoop earrings. Carved hoops are a covetable and easy jewelry staple and these are special ones, crafted of elongated, crescent-shaped pieces of vivid green jade. Jade is a mineral known for its excellent toughness (resistance to breakage) due to its structure composed of interlocking small crystals. This pair of earrings is fashioned from nephrite, a variety of jade. Nephrite is often known for being a softer, earthier shade of green, easily complementing most skin tones and hair colors. These earrings are secured by a gold-plated metal cap on either edge of the jade ring, linked by a hinged, slightly curved ear-wire of solid 14 karat yellow gold that fastens when secured in a round catch.
