A vintage pair of mother of pearl and 10 karat gold hoop earrings. Nice, chunky hoops are a covetable and easy jewelry staple and these are special ones, crafted of two semi-circles of the loveliest mother of pearl. Mother of pearl is an iridescent, nacreous organic material that comprises the inside of some mollusc shells and is often used in carved jewelry. These earrings are secured by a 10k gold cap on either edge of the carved ring, linked by a hinged, curved ear-wire that fastens in a U-shaped catch.
