A striking pendant consisting of a bright and bold image of a flower, framed by a golden, textured gallery. The flower has sky blue petals and a vivid red center, with green and white leaves below, all set against a lilac background. The picture is in a "micromosaic" style, consisting of small pieces of glass, called tesserae, arranged into images. While micromosaic jewelry likely originated in ancient times in the Far East, it was popularized during the Victorian era as souvenir jewelry from "The Grand Tour" of Italy. This piece was produced later, likely in the 1960s, also in Italy. It has a "wash" of high karat gold, likely over a silver base. The back is stamped "Italy." This pendant is paired with an 18” gold-filled chain, which fastens with a spring ring style clasp.
