Malachite and Silver Ivy Brooch

An antique brooch in the form of an ivy leaf, with a curling silver vine accent. The leaf is fashioned from carved, banded malachite stone having variegated shades of light, medium and rich dark green. Beautiful malachite is known for natural color banding in multiple hues of green and for curved, straight and botryoidal (round clustered) patterns which occur naturally during the formation of this material. The piece tests as silver. The brooch is freshly polished but some natural patina (common with vintage and antique silver jewelry) remains. Fastens with c-clasp.

Very good vintage condition. Silver is a soft metal and antique pieces can show wear more easily than similar designs fashioned in gold. While freshly polished, the brooch maintains the rich patina typical of silver jewels this age.
