Knotted Pearl Necklace

A lovely vintage strand of cultured pearls, knotted on silk cord with a golden clasp. These pearls are a terrific size and have a cream color, with slightly iridescent overtones. Well-matched in both size and color, these pearls have faint variations, including light dimples - natural variations which occurred during their growth. Knotted on matching cream colored silk cord and finished with a 14 karat gold fishhook clasp. Prior to the advent of the pearl culturing industry in the early 20th century, pearls were the rarest and most highly valued gem on earth - hundreds of years ago, they were considered more precious than diamonds!
