Graduated Gemstone Scarab Necklace

Colorful and eye-catching scarab jewels such as this necklace are terrific examples of the Egyptian revival aesthetic that has been wildly popular since the discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb in 1922. Scarabs are symbols of transformation, protection, renewal and rebirth. They represent eternal life and the natural cycles of life: a poignant and important symbol imbued with the mystical symbolism of Egyptian-style decorative arts!

This necklace was made in the middle of the 20th century and consists of fifteen carved scarabs - each encircled by a golden bezel - set in a long, slightly graduated row with a golden link between each. The gems of this collar necklace are cabochon shaped with beautiful and thoughtfully carved details on both the front and reverse sides; they include: chalcedony, jasper, amber, carnelian, rose quartz, amethyst and tigers eye scarabs. The necklace is fashioned from 14 karat yellow gold and fastens with a spring ring style clasp.
