A very rare and lovely three dimensional Greek column pendant necklace, fashioned from 14 karat yellow gold. The column depicted here is of the Ionic style, with distinct scrolls (or volutes) near the top. Ionic columns of this style were ubiquitous in ancient Greece (dating back as early as the 6th century, B.C.) They may also be found in contemporary institutional buildings across Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. and state capitols across the United States. 

As symbols, columns represent power, agelessness, stability and have some associations with democracy, as well. I have one of these pendants myself which was given as a reminder of my own strength and capability - I might be biased but I think this necklace is a lovely reflection of these themes. Pendant comes on a gold-filled chain, which fastens with a spring ring style clasp.
