Coral and Vermeil Pendant Necklace

A bright coral droplet is suspended from a petal-shaped cap and bail, both of which are fashioned from vermeil (gold over silver.) The coral shows beautiful natural texture and has a lively pinkish red-orange hue. The bail of the pendant features a stamp ".925" indicating sterling purity of the metal below the gold layer. This pendant is paired with an 18” gold-filled chain, which fastens with a spring ring style clasp. 

What is "vermeil?" Vermeil is a technique which was developed in the 19th century, and which involves a much thicker application of gold coating, over silver metal. Vermeil jewelry can keep and maintain it's golden sheen for a lifetime and offers a more affordable alternative to solid gold jewelry, and a finer quality than gold-plated base metals.
