A vintage pair of black onyx and 10 karat gold hoop earrings. Lovely carved gemstone hoops are a covetable and easy jewelry staple and these are special ones, crafted of two chunky, graduated semi-circles of the loveliest high polish black onyx. Onyx is part of a family of gems called chalcedony which includes carnelian, jasper, agate, onyx, sardonyx and bloodstone. These earrings are secured by a 10k gold cap on either edge of the onyx ring, linked by a hinged, curved ear-wire that fastens in a U-shaped catch.
