Carved Jade and Gold Necklace

Dating from the Art Deco era and of Chinese origin, this necklace features a pendant with a carved piece of jade set in a claw-pronged golden frame. Jade is a mineral known for its excellent toughness (resistance to breakage) due to its structure composed of interlocking small crystals. This pendant is fashioned from pieces of gorgeous vivid green jade, with some striking mottled color variation. The carvings depict flowers and naturalistic reliefs. The 14 karat gold settings beautifully contrast the green of the jade. The pendant is complete with a 14 karat gold chain, which fastens with a spring ring style clasp.
