Carnelian Intaglio Ring

A romantic intaglio ring imbued with history. Fashioned in 9 karat gold, this ring hails from the Victorian era. A central intaglio of carved carnelian (a variety of chalcedony) features a left-facing portrait of a bearded fellow. The gem is framed in an ornate bezel setting, and the shoulders of the cigar-style band feature geometric and linework engraving that complement this little flourish.

Top gallery (intaglio and gold bezel) measures 13.3mm tall and 11.1mm wide. Setting rises 3.3mm off the finger. At back of ring, narrowest part of ring shank measures 4.1mm.

Ring size 7.5 / UK size P. If needed, this ring may be sized either up or down a few sizes by your jeweler.

Very good condition - small impression in the gold at the back of the under gallery - please see photos. This is not noticeable when worn and does not affect the structure or integrity of this ring, which is over 100 years old!
