Bloodstone and Gold Ring
Bloodstone and Gold Ring
This ring features a striking, elongated bloodstone cabochon, bezel set in a yellow gold setting and encircled by a delicately engraved wheat motif with millgrain edges. On either side of the central portion, two delicately sloping gold wire shoulders converge and meet in a ring shank, with a double-ridge that extends all the way around the band. Hailing from the Victorian era, this ring was likely crafted to be worn as a pinky ring. Today, it is most likely to fit most individuals in the same manner; a trusted jeweler could extend the size a bit if that was desired. Bloodstone is a member of the agate family, a “cousin” (if you will) of carnelian, jasper, agate, onyx and sardonyx.
