Black Pearl Drop Earrings

A lovely pair of pearl earrings, accented in 14 karat gold. Each earring consists of a round, black pearl with a gold post, below which balances a second, larger drop-shaped pearl, also black. These pearls are genuine round cultured pearls, well-matched, with good luster and slightly purple overtones. Earrings are complete with a pair of 14k gold friction backs. Prior to the advent of the pearl culturing industry in the early 20th century, pearls were the rarest and most highly valued gem on earth - hundreds of years ago, they were considered more precious than diamonds! These are a lovely staple jewel for any collection.
