A gorgeous necklace consisting of dark purple amethyst beads, strung on silk cord, with a spherical gold clasp. This necklace would be a striking alternative to a pearl strand or perhaps a lovely gift for someone with a February birthday, as amethyst is the birthstone of the month of February. Amethyst is a variety of quartz found all over the world. In the 19th century, however, it was as rare as diamond, sapphire, ruby and emerald. After this time, large deposits were discovered in Brazil, allowing the modern market a wider variety of this beautiful gem for jewelry production. This necklace fastens with a bayonet-style clasp of 14 karat gold.
