Antique Jade Intaglio Ring
Antique Jade Intaglio Ring
A romantic intaglio ring imbued with history. Fashioned in 10 karat gold, this ring hails from the late Georgian/early Victorian era. A central intaglio of carved nephrite (a variety of jade) features a left-facing portrait of a Greek or Roman warrior, complete beautifully executed details: a helmet, aquiline nose and tendrils of curling hair. Nephrite is often known for being a softer, earthier shade of green, easily complementing most skin tones and hair colors. The gem is framed in a closed back bezel setting, and the ring has a lovely low profile, comfortable for everyday wear. This could make a fun pinky ring. Jade is an uncommon gem to find in intaglios from this era of history and the green jade with the warm, antique gold is a striking combination.
