Antique Green Tourmaline and Diamond Ring
Antique Green Tourmaline and Diamond Ring
Tourmaline is my favorite gem - I don’t have to think twice or think long about the answer to this when queried! This lovely antique ring features a central green tourmaline gemstone in a slightly cushion-shaped profile, surrounded by a halo of rose cut diamonds. The tourmaline is a gorgeous shade, rich slightly bluish green. The tourmaline is held by eight claw prong settings while the diamonds are cradled by a crimped, pie crust style bezel. The diamonds are antique rose cuts: imperfect, asymmetrical, and like all diamonds of their era, cut and faceted by hand. The gallery (the underside of where the gems are set) is beautifully designed with a coronet (or crown) style motif. Each shoulder of the ring has subtle ornamentation which blends beautifully into a simple gold band.
