Intarsia refers to a lapidary inlay technique wherein pieces of hard stone gems are inlaid together in captivating geometric pictures. These rare and lovely jewels are testaments to the skill of the jewelers who created them, and the labor-intensive technique produces some incredibly pieces.
This vintage pendant features a central opal with pretty play of color flashes, in a slightly elongated pentagonal shape. Around this opal are two narrow bands of lapis lazuli and bright blue turquoise, framed by a thicker band of malachite. The blues, greens, aquas and violets of this design marry so well together and can coordinate with lots of other jewelry. This pendant hangs on an 18” gold-filled cable chain, which fastens with a spring ring style clasp.
